Brantford Municipal Election 2026: Meet the City Council Candidates by Ward

With the 2026 municipal election approaching, Brantford residents have an opportunity to help shape the future of their city. From neighbourhood services and road maintenance to housing, development, public safety and property taxes, decisions made by City Council affect our everyday lives.

This year, there are many candidates hoping to earn a seat on Brantford City Council. To make it easier to get acquainted with the people running, we’ve organized the candidates by ward and included a brief introduction to each.

Election Day is Monday, October 26, 2026. Brantford residents can also vote online from October 13 through October 26, with advance in-person voting available October 15 to 18.

Ward 1 Candidates

Ward 1 has five candidates competing for two council seats.

  • Michael Boucher: A candidate seeking election to represent Ward 1 on Brantford City Council.
  • Darryl Casey: A candidate seeking to represent Ward 1 and its residents at City Hall.
  • Nick Singh: His campaign highlights parks and playgrounds, affordable housing, tax relief, safer neighbourhoods and community inclusion.
  • Bob Sproul: A candidate seeking election to one of Ward 1’s two council seats.
  • Michael Sullivan: The incumbent Ward 1 councillor seeking another term on City Council.

Ward 2 Candidates

Ward 2 also has five candidates competing for two council seats.

  • Gino Caputo: The incumbent Ward 2 councillor seeking re-election.
  • Erica James: A candidate running to represent Ward 2 residents on City Council.
  • Mark Littell: A candidate seeking one of Ward 2’s two council seats.
  • Dave Malcolm: A candidate hoping to represent Ward 2 at City Hall.
  • Dave Wrobel: A candidate seeking election to represent Ward 2 residents.

Longtime Ward 2 councillor John Sless is not seeking re-election, making this an important election for the ward.

Ward 3 Candidates

Ward 3 has the largest field, with ten candidates competing for two council seats.

  • Trevor J. Cherewka: A candidate seeking election to represent Ward 3.
  • Mike Clancy: A candidate running for one of Ward 3’s two council positions.
  • Andrew Davis: A candidate hoping to represent Ward 3 residents on City Council.
  • Arron Jeavons: A candidate seeking to earn a seat representing Ward 3.
  • Frank Kohlberger: A candidate running to represent Ward 3 at City Hall.
  • Rod Philpot: A candidate seeking one of the two available Ward 3 seats.
  • Kailee Poisson: A candidate hoping to bring her perspective to City Council as a Ward 3 representative.
  • Gordon Riches: A candidate seeking election to represent Ward 3 residents.
  • Dan Skater: A candidate running for a Ward 3 council seat.
  • Mark St. Angelo: A candidate hoping to earn one of Ward 3’s two seats on City Council.

Neither current Ward 3 councillor Greg Martin nor Dan McCreary is seeking to retain their current ward position, leaving two seats open.

Ward 4 Candidates

Five candidates are running for Ward 4, where two council seats are available.

  • Nicole Callander: A candidate seeking election to represent Ward 4 residents.
  • Nicole Durnford: A candidate running for a seat on City Council representing Ward 4.
  • Colleen Goupil: A candidate hoping to earn one of Ward 4’s two council seats.
  • Linda Hunt: The incumbent Ward 4 councillor seeking re-election.
  • Al Moscoe: A candidate seeking to represent Ward 4 at City Hall.

Ward 5 Candidates

Ward 5 has five candidates competing for two council seats.

Choosing who to vote for is a personal decision, and taking a little time to research the candidates can help you make an informed choice.

Consider visiting candidates’ campaign websites and social media pages, attending local candidate events, and learning what each person has to say about the issues that matter most to you. You may want to look at their experience, priorities, plans for the ward and approach to managing the city's budget.
